Traces (Steve Perry album)
Traces is the fourth studio album by American singer Steve Perry, released on October 5, 2018, by Fantasy Records. It marked Perry's return to music after a 24-year absence since his previous studio album, For the Love of Strange Medicine (1994).
The album consists primarily of original material written or co-written by Perry, with a cover of the George Harrison song "I Need You." The album's themes largely revolve around love, loss, and healing. Musically, Traces blends elements of rock, pop, and R&B, reminiscent of Perry's earlier work with the band Journey, but with a more mature and introspective tone.
Traces was a commercial success, debuting at number six on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States. It also reached the top 10 in Canada and charted in several other countries. The album spawned several singles, including "No Erasin'," "We're Still Here," and "No More Cryin'."
The album was generally well-received by critics, who praised Perry's vocals and the album's songwriting. Some critics noted a certain nostalgic quality to the album while appreciating its contemporary production. Traces represented a significant comeback for Perry and re-established him as a prominent figure in the music industry.
