Carlos Martínez (pitcher, born 1982)

Carlos Martínez is a former professional baseball pitcher. Born in La Guaira, Venezuela on October 11, 1982, he played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for several teams, most notably the Boston Red Sox and the Florida Marlins.

Martínez signed with the Red Sox as an amateur free agent in 1999. He made his major league debut with Boston in 2004 and was a member of the Red Sox team that won the World Series that year.

Throughout his MLB career, Martínez was known for his fastball and slider. He primarily served as a relief pitcher, often used in late-inning situations. After his time with the Red Sox, he played for the Florida/Miami Marlins, as well as other minor league teams. His professional career continued until around 2011.
