Thomas Milnes (sculptor)
Thomas Milnes (1812-1881) was a British sculptor, primarily known for his public statues and portrait busts.
Born in Leicestershire, Milnes studied at the Royal Academy Schools in London. He established a successful practice in London, producing works for both public and private commissions.
His notable works include statues of prominent figures such as Isaac Newton (Grantham), Robert Peel (Leeds), and George Hudson (York). He also sculpted the equestrian statue of Queen Victoria in Leeds, which was unveiled in 1858.
