Michael Platt (financier)

Michael Platt (born 1968) is a British billionaire hedge fund manager and co-founder of BlueCrest Capital Management, a former hedge fund which was one of the largest in Europe. Platt is known for his highly aggressive and secretive trading style and the significant personal wealth he has accumulated through his investment strategies.

Platt initially gained experience trading at JPMorgan before co-founding BlueCrest with William Reeves in 2000. BlueCrest became known for its global macro trading strategies, employing numerous traders and sophisticated technology. The firm focused primarily on fixed income, currencies, and commodities.

In 2015, BlueCrest returned capital to outside investors and transitioned to a private investment partnership, managing only the wealth of its partners and employees. This move followed a period of increased scrutiny and regulatory pressure on the hedge fund industry.

Platt has maintained a low public profile, rarely giving interviews. He is known for his philanthropic activities, particularly in the areas of education and medicine.
