Hugh Fraser (diplomat)

Hugh Balfour Fraser (born 1937) is a British diplomat who served as British Ambassador to Syria from 1987 to 1990. He also served as British Ambassador to Azerbaijan from 1994 to 1997. Fraser joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 1961. Prior to his ambassadorships, he held various positions within the FCO and served in diplomatic postings including Bonn and Moscow. Since his retirement from diplomatic service, Fraser has been involved in various consultancy roles, often related to the energy sector and the Caucasus region.
