Arno (department)
Arno is a former department of the First French Republic in present-day Italy. It was named after the Arno River.
The department was created on May 24, 1808, during the Napoleonic Kingdom of Italy, from territory previously part of the Republic of Etruria and later the Kingdom of Etruria. Its chief town (chef-lieu) was Florence.
The Arno department was subdivided into three arrondissements (districts): Florence, Arezzo, and Pistoia.
After the fall of Napoleon in 1814, the department was abolished and its territory was restored to the Grand Duchy of Tuscany.
