Maihar
Maihar is a city and a municipality in Maihar district in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. It is known for the Maa Sharda Devi temple, located on Trikuta Hill, which is a significant Hindu pilgrimage site.
Geography: Maihar is situated in the Baghelkhand region of Madhya Pradesh. The terrain is generally rocky and hilly. The city is located near the Vindhya Range.
History: Maihar was formerly the capital of the princely state of Maihar, one of the 565 princely states of India. The state was founded in 1778 by a Bundela Rajput, and acceded to the Union of India on 15 August 1947. Before becoming the capital, it was a part of Rewa State. The ancient history of the area is connected to the Kalchuri dynasty.
