Dunfermline F.C. (1874)
Dunfermline Athletic Football Club, commonly known as Dunfermline, is a Scottish professional football club based in the town of Dunfermline, Fife. Founded in 1885, they play their home matches at East End Park. The "F.C. (1874)" portion alludes to the earlier Dunfermline club, Dunfermline Football Club, formed in 1874. While not a direct continuation, Dunfermline Athletic views the earlier club as part of its history and heritage.
Dunfermline Athletic has historically competed in the top tiers of Scottish football, winning the Scottish Cup twice, in 1961 and 1968. They have also enjoyed periods in European competition. The club's colors are black and white, and their nickname is "The Pars," derived from a local abbreviation of the town's name.
The club has experienced periods of financial difficulty, leading to administration and subsequent fan ownership. Supporters play a significant role in the club's management and direction. Dunfermline Athletic continues to be a prominent football club in the Scottish football landscape.
