James Brown (sportscaster)
James Brown (born February 29, 1951) is an American sportscaster. He is best known for his work as a studio analyst and host for various sports networks and programs, primarily focusing on the National Football League (NFL).
Brown's broadcasting career began in the mid-1980s after a professional basketball career. He played in both the NBA (Washington Bullets) and the ABA (Denver Nuggets, Memphis Sounds, Utah Stars, and San Diego Sails).
His major network career started at CBS Sports, where he served as a play-by-play announcer for college basketball games and a reporter for NFL games. He later became a studio analyst for The NFL Today, CBS's pre-game show, a role he held for several years.
Following his time at CBS, Brown moved to Fox Sports, where he served as the host of Fox NFL Sunday for over a decade. During his tenure at Fox, the show consistently ranked as one of the most-watched NFL pre-game programs.
Brown returned to CBS Sports in 2006 and currently serves as the host of The NFL Today. In addition to his work on The NFL Today, Brown has also contributed to CBS's coverage of other sports, including college basketball and the NCAA Tournament.
