Jeff Morgan (vintner)
Jeff Morgan is an American vintner and winemaker, best known for his work with Rhône-style wines and, more recently, kosher wines. He founded Covenant Wines, a critically acclaimed kosher winery based in California, and later a second winery in Israel.
Morgan's winemaking career began in the late 1990s, following a career in journalism and writing. He developed an interest in wine and decided to pursue it professionally. He gained experience working with several wineries before focusing on establishing his own brand.
Covenant Wines, founded in 2003, quickly gained recognition for its quality and commitment to producing kosher wines that rivaled non-kosher wines in terms of flavor and complexity. The winery's success helped to elevate the perception of kosher winemaking and attract a wider audience. The California winery focuses on Cabernet Sauvignon and other Bordeaux varietals.
Subsequently, Morgan expanded his winemaking endeavors to Israel, establishing Covenant Israel, which allows him to explore the unique terroir and grape varieties of the region. This winery produces a range of wines reflecting the characteristics of Israeli vineyards.
Morgan is a vocal advocate for quality in kosher winemaking and has played a significant role in shaping the modern kosher wine industry. He has received numerous accolades for his wines and contributions to the field.
