Robert Echlin (1674–1706)

Robert Echlin (1674–1706) was an Irish barrister and Member of Parliament. Born in Ireland, he was the son of Henry Echlin and Susanna Molyneux. He was called to the Irish Bar and subsequently elected as a Member of Parliament for Jamestown in the Irish House of Commons, a seat he held until his death. He married Jane Leslie, daughter of Robert Leslie, Bishop of Raphoe, and they had children. His brief parliamentary career appears to have been largely unremarkable, and details about his legal practice are scarce. His significance lies primarily in his familial connections within the established Anglo-Irish gentry.
