Horn (video game)
Horn is a third-person action-adventure game developed by Phosphor Games Studio and published by Zynga for iOS and Android devices in 2012. It was later released on PC and Mac via Steam in 2013. The game features a touch-based control scheme and a fantasy setting.
The story follows a young apprentice hornblower named Horn who awakens to find his village destroyed and its inhabitants transformed into monstrous creatures. He discovers that these creatures are actually the villagers, transformed by a curse. Horn must team up with a head of one of these creatures – a humorous and sarcastic being – to undo the curse and restore his people.
Gameplay involves exploration, puzzle-solving, and combat. Horn can navigate the environment by swiping and tapping, and he can interact with objects and characters using touch gestures. Combat is primarily melee-focused, with Horn using a sword and shield to fight the transformed villagers. He can also use his hornblowing skills to solve puzzles and manipulate the environment.
The game was notable for its high-quality graphics for a mobile title at the time of its release, its fully voiced dialogue, and its relatively deep storyline compared to other mobile games of the era. It received generally positive reviews, with critics praising its visuals, controls, and engaging story. However, some criticism was directed towards its occasionally repetitive gameplay and reliance on in-app purchases in its initial release.
