O‑Level

The O-Level, short for Ordinary Level, is a subject-based qualification typically taken by students around the ages of 14 to 16, usually after completing secondary education. It is a globally recognized qualification, often serving as a prerequisite for further education such as A-Levels (Advanced Levels) or vocational training. Historically, O-Levels were a component of the General Certificate of Education (GCE) in the United Kingdom and countries within the Commonwealth.

While the GCE O-Level has been superseded in the UK by the GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education), O-Level examinations continue to be offered in many countries, including parts of Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. These examinations are often administered by examining boards such as Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) or Pearson Edexcel. The syllabus content and assessment methods vary depending on the examining board and the specific subject.

Subjects commonly offered at O-Level include mathematics, sciences (physics, chemistry, biology), languages (English, foreign languages), humanities (history, geography), and social sciences. The grades achieved in O-Level examinations are often used for university admissions or employment opportunities.
