Harry Bates (rally driver)

Harry Bates (born October 30, 1996) is an Australian rally driver. He is a two-time Australian Rally Champion, winning the title in 2019 and 2023. Bates is the son of Neal Bates, a four-time Australian Rally Champion.

Bates began his rallying career in 2014, competing in various local and national events. He quickly established himself as a rising talent, showcasing considerable pace and car control. He has primarily competed in Toyota vehicles, continuing a strong family association with the brand.

His 2019 Australian Rally Championship victory came after a consistent season driving a Toyota Yaris AP4. He faced stiff competition from established rivals but ultimately secured the title with a string of strong performances.

In 2023, Bates claimed his second Australian Rally Championship, again piloting a Toyota. This win solidified his position as one of the leading rally drivers in Australia and demonstrated his continued growth and development within the sport. He often partners with co-driver Coral Taylor.
