Philippe Lefebvre (organist)

Philippe Lefebvre (born 1949) is a French organist, composer, and improviser. He is considered one of the leading figures in the French organ tradition.

Lefebvre studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, where he won first prizes in organ, improvisation, and fugue. He has held several prestigious positions, including Titular Organist of the Chartres Cathedral since 1985. He succeeded Pierre Cochereau in this role.

As a concert organist, Lefebvre performs extensively throughout the world. He is renowned for his virtuosic technique, his profound musicality, and his exceptional improvisational skills.
