Free List (Liechtenstein)
The Free List (German: Freie Liste, FL) is a green-left political party in Liechtenstein. Founded in 1985, it advocates for social justice, environmental protection, and direct democracy. It is generally considered to be one of the smaller parties in Liechtenstein's political landscape, often positioned in opposition to the dominant conservative and center-right parties.
The Free List participates in national elections for the Landtag (parliament). While its representation has fluctuated, it has consistently held seats, providing a voice for alternative perspectives within the government. Its platform typically includes progressive taxation, affordable housing initiatives, sustainable development policies, and the promotion of civil rights.
The party's electoral success varies, and its impact often lies in its ability to influence public discourse and advocate for specific policy changes, even when not in a majority position. The Free List has also been involved in various referendums and initiatives to promote its agenda directly to the Liechtenstein electorate.
The Free List is part of the wider European Green movement and maintains connections with other green and progressive parties internationally. Its internal structure emphasizes grassroots democracy and member participation in policy formulation and decision-making.
