Hamasen

Hamasen (Hebrew: חמאס"ן) is a slang term in Hebrew, generally used within the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), that denotes a soldier or unit assigned to guard duty, security patrols, or related tasks that are perceived as tedious or low-prestige. The term is derived from "Hamas," the Palestinian Islamist militant organization and political party. The implication is that the security tasks are of such low importance that they could be performed even by members of Hamas. It carries a negative connotation and is considered disrespectful to the soldiers performing the described duties. The term reflects a hierarchical view within the IDF regarding the desirability of different assignments and the value placed on different types of military service. Using the term is often discouraged due to its potentially offensive nature and the underlying devaluing of necessary security roles.
