Peter Madden (actor)
Peter Madden (1904 – 1976) was a British character actor. Born in Ipoh, Federated Malay States (now Malaysia), he was known for his prolific work in film and television, often playing authority figures, villains, or eccentric characters.
Madden's career spanned several decades, beginning in the theatre. He made numerous appearances in British television series, particularly in the 1960s and 1970s. Some of his more notable roles include appearances in Doctor Who (in the serials The Dalek Invasion of Earth, The War Machines, and The Faceless Ones), The Avengers, The Saint, Z-Cars, Dixon of Dock Green, and Dad's Army.
His film credits include roles in Lawrence of Arabia (1962), Zulu (1964), Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines (1965), Carry On Doctor (1967), and The Adventures of Gerard (1970).
Madden was a versatile actor with a distinctive presence, making him a familiar face to British audiences. He died in Richmond, Surrey, England.
