Dedovsk (inhabited locality)
Dedovsk is a town (since 1940) in Istra Urban Okrug, Moscow Oblast, Russia, located 38 kilometers (24 mi) northwest of Moscow.
History:
Dedovsk's origins can be traced back to the construction of a spinning factory in 1911 by the French company "Société Anonyme des Filatures de Coton de Dedovsk." Around this factory, a settlement emerged, which was initially named Dedovo, after the nearby village of Dedovo. The factory played a significant role in the town's development, providing employment and shaping its identity. Dedovsk was granted town status in 1940.

As a municipal division, Dedovsk is a part of Istra Urban Okrug. Prior to the merging of all settlements of Istrinsky District into the Urban Okrug, it was incorporated as Dedovsk Urban Settlement.
