Harivijaya
Harivijaya is a Marathi poetic work composed by Shridhar Swami Nazarekar, a poet from the 18th century. It retells stories primarily from the tenth book (Skandha) of the Bhagavata Purana, focusing on the life and exploits of the Hindu deity Krishna. The poem is considered a significant work of Marathi literature and religious writing, valued for its devotional content and poetic style. Harivijaya translates roughly to "Victory of Hari," Hari being a name for Vishnu, of which Krishna is considered an avatar. The work elaborates on various episodes in Krishna's life, including his birth, childhood in Vrindavan, his battles against demons, and his role in the Mahabharata. It is often recited and studied by devotees of Krishna in Maharashtra.
