Ford Fiesta (third generation)
The third generation Ford Fiesta, internally designated BE-13, was produced from 1989 to 1997. It represented a significant redesign over its predecessors, featuring a more rounded and aerodynamic exterior. While retaining a similar overall size to the previous Fiesta models, the Mk3 offered improvements in interior space and refinement.
The engine range typically included petrol engines from 1.0L to 1.6L, as well as a diesel option. Carbureted and fuel-injected versions were available depending on the market and specific model year. Transmissions were typically 5-speed manual, although some markets offered automatic options.
The Fiesta Mk3 was sold across Europe and other global markets. It offered a range of trim levels, typically including base models, LX, Ghia, and sportier XR2i variants. The XR2i featured performance enhancements such as a larger engine and upgraded suspension. A commercial van version, known as the Fiesta Courier, was also produced based on the Mk3 platform.
The Fiesta Mk3 received a facelift in 1994, which included revisions to the front end styling, interior trim, and some mechanical updates. Production continued until 1997, when it was replaced by the fourth generation Ford Fiesta. The Mk3 is generally considered to be a reliable and economical small car, and it remains a popular choice among budget-conscious buyers.
