Les Hayes (rugby league)

Les Hayes was an Australian professional rugby league footballer who played in the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) competition during the 1960s and 1970s. Hayes primarily played as a second-row forward. He is best known for his time with the South Sydney Rabbitohs, where he was a key member of their dominant side of the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Hayes played in four Grand Final-winning teams for South Sydney: 1967, 1968, 1970, and 1971. He was known for his toughness, strong running, and reliable defense. He earned a reputation as a hard-working and respected player within the South Sydney club and the wider rugby league community. While he did not represent Australia at the international level, his contributions to South Sydney's success during that era are widely acknowledged.
