The Crossing (Star Trek: Enterprise)

"The Crossing" is the 12th episode of the second season of the American science fiction television series Star Trek: Enterprise. It originally aired on UPN on January 22, 2003.

The episode follows the crew of the Enterprise as they investigate an abandoned Xindi-Primate vessel adrift in space. Upon boarding, several crew members, including Captain Archer, begin to act strangely, exhibiting symptoms of mental alteration and possessing new, powerful abilities. It is revealed that the ship is inhabited by non-corporeal entities who are attempting to merge with the crew members to experience physical existence.

As more crew members are possessed, T'Pol and Doctor Phlox work to determine the nature of the entities and find a way to separate them from their hosts. The entities reveal that they left their physical forms long ago and are now seeking to return to them.

Ultimately, Archer, after initially being influenced by the entities, resists their control and helps T'Pol devise a method to expel them from the Enterprise. The entities are lured back to their derelict vessel, which is then sealed off, preventing them from possessing other beings. The Enterprise departs, leaving the Xindi vessel drifting in space. The episode explores themes of consciousness, physicality, and the desire for experience.
