SIAI S.51

The SIAI S.51 was a high-speed flying boat produced by the Italian aircraft manufacturer SIAI (Società Idrovolanti Alta Italia) during the early 1930s. It was designed primarily as a racing aircraft to compete in the Schneider Trophy races. The S.51 was a development of earlier SIAI designs, incorporating refinements aimed at improving speed and aerodynamic efficiency. It featured a streamlined fuselage, a low-mounted monoplane wing, and was powered by a high-output Isotta-Fraschini engine. While the S.51 showed promise and underwent testing, it did not ultimately participate in the Schneider Trophy races due to various factors, including technical issues and Italy's decision to focus on other aircraft designs. Its development contributed to the advancement of seaplane technology in Italy during that period.
