Matthew Winkler (journalist)
Matthew Winkler is an American journalist and editor-in-chief emeritus of Bloomberg News. He is known for his role in building Bloomberg's global news organization, focusing on financial and economic reporting.
Winkler joined Bloomberg in 1990 and served as editor-in-chief from 1990 to 2015. Under his leadership, Bloomberg News grew from a small wire service to a global news organization with thousands of journalists in over 120 countries. He oversaw the expansion of Bloomberg's coverage to include a wide range of business and financial topics, including equities, fixed income, currencies, commodities, and economics.
Winkler is credited with establishing Bloomberg's distinct style of financial journalism, characterized by its emphasis on data, analysis, and accountability. He advocated for transparency in financial markets and pushed for greater access to information for investors.
