NGC 7190

NGC 7190 is a lenticular galaxy located approximately 85 million light-years away in the constellation Lacerta. It is characterized by a prominent bulge and a relatively faint disk, lacking the spiral arms typically seen in spiral galaxies.

NGC 7190 is a Seyfert galaxy, specifically a type 2 Seyfert. Seyfert galaxies are a class of active galactic nuclei (AGN) exhibiting strong, broad emission lines in their spectra. These emission lines are thought to originate from a supermassive black hole at the galaxy's center, accreting material and emitting powerful radiation. In type 2 Seyferts, the broad emission lines are partially obscured by a surrounding torus of dust and gas, resulting in narrower observed spectral lines.

The galaxy's designation, NGC 7190, comes from its entry in the New General Catalogue of Nebulae and Clusters of Stars, compiled by John Louis Emil Dreyer in 1888.

Studies of NGC 7190 have contributed to our understanding of the processes occurring in active galactic nuclei and the relationship between black hole accretion and galaxy evolution. Further research, including spectroscopic analysis and multi-wavelength observations, continues to refine our knowledge of this distant galaxy.
