2008 AFC Cup
The 2008 AFC Cup was the fifth edition of the AFC Cup, an annual international association football competition organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). It was open to football clubs from AFC member associations that did not receive direct slots in the AFC Champions League, based on the AFC's ranking system.
The tournament began on March 8, 2008, and concluded with the final on November 7, 2008. A total of 20 teams from 11 countries participated in the group stage, which was followed by a knockout stage.
The final was contested between Muharraq Club of Bahrain and Safa SC of Lebanon. Muharraq Club won the final 5–4 on aggregate, claiming their first AFC Cup title. They defeated Safa SC 5-1 in the first leg and lost 3-0 in the second leg.
Muharraq Club qualified for the 2009 AFC Champions League play-off round as a result of winning the tournament.
