Frank Miles

Frank Miles (1852-1891) was a British artist, illustrator, and society figure, primarily known for his portraits and depictions of idyllic rural scenes. He was a celebrated artist during his lifetime, particularly during the late Victorian era.

Miles was born in Bingley, Yorkshire. He received his art education at the South Kensington School of Art. He became a sought-after portraitist, capturing the likenesses of numerous prominent individuals of his day. His work was displayed at the Royal Academy.

Miles was a close friend of Oscar Wilde. He is credited with introducing Wilde to Constance Lloyd, who later became Wilde's wife. The relationship between Miles and Wilde is a subject of some historical speculation and analysis.

Later in life, Miles suffered from mental illness and was confined to an asylum. He died at the age of 38. Despite his relatively short career, he left behind a significant body of work and is remembered as a talented artist and a figure of the late Victorian art scene.
