Foolish (film)
Foolish is a 1999 American comedy film directed by Dave Meyers and starring Eddie Griffin, Master P, and Arija Bareikis. The film follows the story of Foolish (Griffin), an aspiring stand-up comedian living in Los Angeles, and his older brother Miles (Master P), a successful but troubled music producer.
Foolish struggles to balance his dreams of comedic stardom with the responsibilities of supporting his family and navigating the challenges of street life. He often finds himself in comical situations due to his naivete and penchant for getting into trouble.
Miles, on the other hand, is a successful record executive with his own label, "No Limit Records" (a nod to Master P's real-life record label), but he grapples with the temptations and dangers of the music industry. He tries to guide Foolish and keep him out of trouble while also dealing with his own personal demons.
The film explores themes of family, ambition, and the pursuit of dreams against the backdrop of the Los Angeles entertainment scene. It features a soundtrack of hip-hop and R&B music, characteristic of Master P's musical style and influence at the time. The film received generally negative reviews and was not a commercial success.
