James Gowans (Australian footballer)
James Gowans (born 23 February 1956) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Geelong Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Gowans, a ruckman, was recruited to Geelong from Lara. He made his senior VFL debut in 1977. Gowans played a total of 83 senior games for Geelong between 1977 and 1982. He was known for his strong marking and consistent performance in the ruck. He was also recognized for his fair play.
After retiring from the VFL, Gowans continued his involvement in Australian rules football at the local level.
