John Cheshire (boxer)
John Cheshire (born October 25, 1944, Manchester, England) is a retired English professional boxer who competed from 1966 to 1973. He primarily fought as a light-welterweight.
Cheshire is best known for winning the British light-welterweight title in 1971, defeating Dave “Boy” Green. He defended the title successfully against Des Morrison later that same year. He lost the title to Pat McCormack in 1972.
Prior to turning professional, Cheshire had a successful amateur career.
His professional record included a number of fights against notable British boxers of the era. After retiring from boxing, Cheshire remained largely out of the public eye. Further details of his life outside the ring are scarce.
