Panni (Pashtun tribe)

The Panni are a Pashtun tribe primarily found in Afghanistan and Pakistan. They are considered part of the larger Kakar Pashtun tribal confederation, which belongs to the larger Gharghasht branch of Pashtun ancestry.

Historically, the Panni have been associated with the regions of northern Balochistan in Pakistan and southern Afghanistan. Like many Pashtun tribes, their social structure is based on a tribal system, with a hierarchical structure of clans and sub-clans. Tribal elders, known as mashrans, typically play a key role in decision-making and conflict resolution.

The Panni are predominantly Sunni Muslims. They are primarily engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry, though many have also migrated to urban centers for employment.

Information regarding specific figures, significant historical events exclusively involving the Panni, or detailed clan structures is fragmented and requires further research. Variations in spelling and pronunciation may also exist.
