John Ramsden (died 1646)

John Ramsden (died 1646) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons at various times between 1624 and 1644.

Ramsden was the son of Thomas Ramsden. He matriculated at Magdalen Hall, Oxford on 11 October 1605, aged 15 and was a student of Inner Temple in 1607.

In 1624, Ramsden was elected Member of Parliament for Pontefract. He was elected MP for Hedon in 1625. He was elected MP for Pontefract again in 1626 and in 1628 and sat until 1629 when King Charles I decided to rule without parliament for eleven years.

In April 1640, Ramsden was elected MP for Pontefract in the Short Parliament. He was elected MP for Pontefract again for the Long Parliament in November 1640 and sat until he was disabled from sitting in parliament in 1644.

Ramsden married Anne and had a son William, who was created a baronet.
