East Zone (Bangladesh Railway)

The East Zone of Bangladesh Railway is one of the two operational zones of the state-owned railway system of Bangladesh, the other being the West Zone. The East Zone is headquartered in Chittagong and covers the eastern part of the country, primarily serving the regions of Chittagong, Sylhet, and Dhaka. It operates on both broad gauge and meter gauge railway lines, although meter gauge is the predominant gauge.

The East Zone is responsible for the operation and maintenance of railway infrastructure, passenger and freight train services within its designated territory. This includes managing railway tracks, stations, bridges, and rolling stock. It also oversees signaling and telecommunication systems necessary for the safe and efficient operation of trains.
