Van Gent (crater)
Van Gent is a lunar impact crater that is located on the far side of the Moon, behind the eastern limb as seen from the Earth. It lies in the northeastern part of the Mare Australe, a lava-flooded impact basin. To the northwest of Van Gent is the crater Lamb, and to the east-southeast lies Parkhurst.
The rim of Van Gent is heavily worn and eroded, with several smaller craters lying along the edge and inner walls. The most prominent of these is a small crater along the western rim. The interior floor is relatively level and featureless, with no central peak. The crater is named after the Dutch astronomer Hendrik van Gent.
