George Fant (American football)

George Fant (born July 19, 1992) is an American football offensive tackle for the Houston Texans of the National Football League (NFL). He played college basketball for Western Kentucky University before transitioning to football during his redshirt senior year.

Fant was signed by the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2016. Initially, he was a developmental prospect due to his lack of formal football experience. He made his NFL debut in 2016 and eventually became a starter for the Seahawks in 2017 before suffering a season-ending knee injury.

In 2020, Fant signed with the New York Jets. He served as their starting left tackle for multiple seasons.

In 2023, Fant signed with the Houston Texans.

Fant is known for his athleticism and size, which are attributed to his basketball background. His story is considered unique due to his late transition to professional football.
