Phil Vickery (rugby union)
Phil Vickery (born 31 March 1976) is an English former rugby union player. A tighthead prop, he is best known for his international career with England, which spanned from 1998 to 2011.
Vickery played club rugby for Gloucester, where he spent the majority of his professional career, and later for Wasps. He captained Gloucester for several seasons and was known for his strength, scrummaging ability, and work rate around the field.
He represented England at three Rugby World Cups: 1999, 2003, and 2007. He was a member of the England squad that won the 2003 Rugby World Cup, playing in the final against Australia. In the 2007 World Cup, he captained England to the final, where they were defeated by South Africa.
Vickery also represented the British and Irish Lions on two tours, in 2001 to Australia and 2009 to South Africa. He earned 73 caps for England and 5 caps for the British and Irish Lions.
Following his retirement from professional rugby, Vickery has worked as a pundit and commentator for rugby union and has also pursued business interests.
