Crisis (metal band)

Crisis was an American metal band active from the late 1990s to the early 2000s. Formed in New York City, they were notable for their blend of extreme metal subgenres, incorporating elements of death metal, thrash metal, and black metal, often with politically charged and socially conscious lyrics.

The band featured vocalist Karyn Crisis, who was known for her distinctive and powerful vocal delivery, ranging from guttural growls to soaring clean vocals. The lineup also included musicians who would later go on to other notable projects within the metal scene.

Crisis released two full-length albums: 8 Convulsions (1997) and The Hollowing (2000). 8 Convulsions was particularly recognized for its raw energy and aggressive sound, while The Hollowing displayed a more refined and experimental approach.

While Crisis did not achieve mainstream success, they garnered a dedicated cult following and are remembered for their unique sound and Karyn Crisis's commanding stage presence and vocal abilities. The band ultimately disbanded in the early 2000s, with members pursuing other musical endeavors. Karyn Crisis later formed the band Crisis S.
