Christian Smith (DJ)

Christian Smith is a Swedish-born techno DJ and producer. He is best known for his driving, groove-heavy techno sound and his Tronic Music record label.

Born in Sweden, Smith moved to Germany and later to Washington D.C. in the United States. He began DJing in the early 1990s and quickly gained recognition for his energetic sets and innovative mixing style. He then relocated to Mallorca, Spain before eventually settling in São Paulo, Brazil.

In 1998, Smith founded Tronic Music, which has since become a prominent label in the techno scene. Tronic has released music from a wide range of established and emerging artists, and is known for its focus on quality techno with a strong emphasis on rhythm and melody.

Smith has released music on numerous other labels, including Drumcode, Bedrock, Plus 8, and Cocoon Recordings. He has also toured extensively throughout the world, performing at clubs and festivals such as Awakenings, Time Warp, and Movement Detroit.

His productions are characterised by their complex layering, intricate percussion, and deep, hypnotic grooves. He regularly incorporates elements of funk and house music into his techno productions, creating a sound that is both energetic and sophisticated. Smith remains a highly respected and influential figure in the global techno community.
