Frank McMahon (oilman)
Frank McMahon (October 6, 1902 – February 12, 1986) was a Canadian oil and natural gas industry executive and businessman. He played a pivotal role in the development of Canada's natural gas industry, particularly in British Columbia and Alberta.
Born in Moyie, British Columbia, McMahon rose to prominence as the founder and driving force behind Westcoast Transmission Co. Ltd. This company constructed the first major natural gas pipeline in Western Canada, transporting natural gas from the Peace River region of British Columbia to markets in Vancouver and the United States. This achievement was a significant engineering feat at the time and a key factor in the economic development of British Columbia.
McMahon's vision extended beyond Westcoast Transmission. He was also involved in other ventures, including Pacific Petroleums Ltd., which became a major oil and gas producer. He was known for his entrepreneurial spirit, risk-taking, and ability to navigate complex regulatory and financial landscapes.
