William Griffiths (politician)
William Griffiths (born 16 April 1912, died 15 July 1995) was a British Labour Party politician. He served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Manchester Exchange from 1945 to 1950, and then for Manchester Openshaw from 1950 to 1964.
Born in Manchester, Griffiths was a trade union official before entering Parliament. He was active in local politics and served as a councillor on Manchester City Council. He was a strong advocate for working-class interests and social justice.
During his time in Parliament, Griffiths was known for his contributions to debates on housing, education, and industrial relations. He was a loyal supporter of the Labour government and played a role in the implementation of the post-war welfare state. He retired from Parliament in 1964 and remained involved in community affairs until his death in 1995.
