Chaltyr

Chaltyr is a village (selo) in the Myasnikovsky District of Rostov Oblast, Russia. It serves as the administrative center of Krymsky Rural Settlement.

History:

Chaltyr was founded in 1779 by Armenians who were resettled from Crimea as part of a policy initiated by Catherine the Great. These Armenians were primarily from the Crimean peninsula and were offered land and tax exemptions in the Azov Governorate. The name "Chaltyr" is believed to be of Crimean Tatar origin.
