Broken Silence (album)
Broken Silence is the second studio album by American rapper Foxy Brown, released on July 17, 2001, by Def Jam Recordings. The album followed her debut album, Ill Na Na, released in 1996.
Broken Silence features a blend of hip hop, R&B, and dancehall influences. Production was handled by a variety of producers, including Trackmasters, Swizz Beatz, and Irv Gotti. Lyrically, the album explores themes of sexuality, street life, and female empowerment.
The album spawned several singles, including "Oh Yeah" featuring Spragga Benz, and "BK Anthem." It debuted at number 5 on the Billboard 200 chart and received generally mixed reviews from critics, who praised Foxy Brown's lyrical delivery but criticized the album's inconsistent production and lack of originality. Despite the mixed critical reception, Broken Silence was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
