Paul Rosenthal (violinist)

Paul Rosenthal (born July 11, 1944) is an American violinist, pedagogue, and conductor. He is best known as a founding member and first violinist of the Theatre Chamber Players of Kennedy Center, a chamber ensemble established in 1968.

Rosenthal studied at the Juilliard School under Ivan Galamian and Joseph Gingold. He has performed extensively as a soloist with major orchestras throughout the United States and abroad. In addition to his work with the Theatre Chamber Players, Rosenthal has collaborated with numerous renowned musicians, including Mstislav Rostropovich and Leonard Bernstein.

Rosenthal is a dedicated teacher, and has held professorships at several universities, including the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where he served as Artist-in-Residence. He is also a frequent guest teacher at music festivals and workshops. He has been lauded for his insightful interpretations and his ability to connect with audiences. Rosenthal plays on the 1734 "Ames, Totenberg" Stradivarius violin.
