John Harvey (American actor)
John Harvey (born John Harrison, June 29, 1917 – November 22, 2010) was an American actor primarily known for his roles in film noir and television crime dramas.
Harvey was born in Racine, Wisconsin. He began his acting career in the theater before transitioning to film in the 1940s. He frequently played tough guys, henchmen, and other supporting roles in films such as The Killers (1946), where he played one of the hitmen, and His Kind of Woman (1951). He was often cast as a villain due to his distinctive, somewhat menacing appearance.
While his film roles were often memorable, Harvey also found success in television. He appeared in numerous popular shows throughout the 1950s, 60s, and 70s, including The Untouchables, Perry Mason, The Twilight Zone (in the episode "The Grave"), and Gunsmoke. He often guest-starred in Westerns and crime dramas, playing characters similar to those he portrayed on the big screen.
Harvey continued to work in television and film until the late 1970s. He died in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 93.
