BMW N26

The BMW N26 is a turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine produced by BMW from 2012 to 2017. It is a SULEV (Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle) version of the BMW N20 engine, designed to meet stricter emissions standards, primarily in the United States. The N26 features several modifications compared to the N20 to reduce emissions, including a different catalytic converter, revised fuel injection system, encapsulated fuel lines, and an air intake duct designed to reduce evaporative emissions. These changes often come with slightly reduced performance compared to the N20, although the difference is generally considered minimal. The N26 powered several BMW models, including the F30 328i and the F22 228i sold in specific regions. Due to the more complex emission control systems, the N26 is often considered to be slightly more expensive to maintain than the N20.
