Anok Yai

Anok Yai (born December 20, 1997) is a Sudanese-American model. She is known for being the second Black model, and the first Sudanese model, to open a Prada show, an event which occurred during Milan Fashion Week in 2018.

Yai was born in Cairo, Egypt, to Sudanese parents. Her family immigrated to the United States when she was two years old. She grew up in Manchester, New Hampshire. She was discovered in October 2017 at Howard University's homecoming celebration, when a photographer, Steven Hall, captured her photograph, which subsequently went viral on Instagram.

Following her viral fame, Yai signed with Next Management. She has since appeared in editorials for Vogue, including Vogue Italia and Vogue Japan, and has walked the runways for numerous high-fashion designers, including Prada, Chanel, Valentino, and Marc Jacobs. She has also been featured in advertising campaigns for brands like Estée Lauder, Nike, and Yves Saint Laurent.

Yai has been recognized for her impact on the fashion industry and her advocacy for diversity. She has been outspoken about the importance of representation and has used her platform to promote inclusivity within the modeling world.
