John Andrews (priest)
John Andrews (born c. 1550 – died March 24, 1626) was an English clergyman and academic. He served as Master of Pembroke College, Cambridge, and as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge.
Andrews was born in Chichester, Sussex. He matriculated at Pembroke College, Cambridge, in 1568, graduating B.A. in 1572, M.A. in 1575, B.D. in 1582, and D.D. in 1596. He was elected a Fellow of Pembroke in 1572.
Andrews served as Master of Pembroke College from 1589 until his death in 1626. He was also Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge from 1598 to 1599. He was a prominent figure within the university and held various ecclesiastical positions, including rector of Bingham, Nottinghamshire. His tenure as Master of Pembroke saw a period of consolidation and stability for the college.
