João Pinto (footballer, born 1961)
João Manuel Pinto (born August 1, 1961) is a Portuguese retired footballer who played primarily as a right winger.
A player of considerable pace and dribbling ability, Pinto spent the vast majority of his career with FC Porto, also representing Portugal in two major international tournaments.
Career:
Pinto started his professional career with FC Porto in 1981, quickly establishing himself as a key player for the club. He was a vital part of the Porto team that dominated Portuguese football in the 1980s and early 1990s, winning numerous Primeira Liga titles and Taça de Portugal trophies. He was known for his speed, technique, and ability to deliver crosses into the box.
He remained at Porto until 1997, with a brief loan spell at Vitória de Guimarães in 1991. He then moved to Salgueiros, retiring from professional football at the end of the 1997-98 season.
International Career:
Pinto represented Portugal at international level, earning caps for the national team. He participated in the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico, and UEFA Euro 1984 held in France, playing a role in Portugal's semi-final finish in the latter tournament.
