Agon (newspaper)

Agon was a short-lived German-language newspaper published in Saint Petersburg, Russia, from 1914 to 1915. It was primarily focused on covering sports news, particularly football (soccer) and other athletic events. The newspaper's target audience was the German-speaking community residing in Saint Petersburg and the surrounding region, a significant population prior to World War I. Agon provided reports on local, national (German), and international sporting competitions, offering news, scores, and analysis. Due to the outbreak of World War I and the subsequent rise in anti-German sentiment in Russia, Agon ceased publication after a relatively brief run.
